Ecodesign includes consideration of environmental issues in the product development process aiming to minimise environmental impacts throughout the product’s lifecycle.

This is achieved as ecodesign allows for a systematic selection of sustainable designs, materials, and processes as well as incorporation of product attributes enabling circular economy.

CasusGrill – Ecodesign of everyday products

The CasusGrill was designed in collaboration with IPU revolutionizing the sustainability, safety, and useability of disposable grills. The CasusGrill is made only with renewable materials and is improving the grill time while reducing the usage of coal with 40%. The CasusGrill have won several prices including Danish Design Award and is sold on all continents.

The use of ecodesign stimulated innovation and creativity during the design process resulting in a new and improved grill superior on multiple performance parameters giving a competitive edge over the competing products.

IPU redesigns or optimize the products of our clients. We can take responsibility for developing your new sustainable product from ideation to a mature product.

For existing R&D projects IPU offers support and implementation of numerous ecodesign practices and tools through workshops incorporating ecodesign into the traditional development process.

External Sustainability Lead and Ecodesign Resource

Currently we see R&D departments experiencing difficulties keeping the environmental sustainability a priority as other requirements take priority. As an external sustainability lead IPU’s consultants follows a project providing ongoing environmental evaluations and identifies solutions aiming to find the optimal balance between environmental- and traditional performance parameters.
